Yesterday my car had a small problem by the Walmart on coldwater. Called two other places that didn't answer but sears answered on the first ring. They got me in and out within an hour and I was able to get to work almost on time. The price was beyond fair and I'll definitely be coming back and recommend you do too. Jason was amazing!
Have stopped by here twice now in a week, interacting with Omar both times. Omar is very friendly and helpful, he gave me a quote for my timing belt/water pump replacement the first time I came in. I chose not to go with them because I got a better quote somewhere else. The second time I came in was to read some codes for a check engine light I had come on over the weekend. Omar got me in with his mechanic within 5 min and read the codes for free. Also gave me a quote for potential repairs! All in all very friendly and helpful guys!
Missed my appointment for Monday, 1/2, that I scheduled the previous week. Was told bringing in my own oil/filter would be fine.
Called today, 1/6 to reschedule. Was told that I can't bring my own oil/filter in.
Today was my 3rd visit to the Sears Auto center on Coldwater Rd within 2 years. The first time I went in about 2 years ago was to get a simple oil change. After telling me it would only take an hour or so it took most of the day (about 5 hours if I remember right) but I just figured it was a really busy day. The second time (about 8 months ago) I went was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at an auto center. Again, only a simple oil change but took well over 6 hours to get my car back AND every employee I interacted with was incredibly rude, another busy day so slightly understandable (still unacceptable). A group of customers (including us) stood in the lobby for over an hour with no help in sight. We could see our vehicle was done but had to wait over an hour to check out and get the keys because employees were refusing to come to the front. Someone had to walk into the back and pull someone up (still didn't help any customers immediately). Anyways, after that experience we SWORE we would never go back to that Sears Auto center. Unfortunately I desperately needed an oil change and needed new brake pads and of course Sears was the only place in town who could get me in on the day I needed, so I thought we'd give them another chance. The oil change and brake inspection only took a little over their estimated time of an hour and a half. Then they quoted another hour and a half to get the new pads on, replace back roters and recondition the front rotors. We came back 2 hours later and they told me another hour until it would be done. I came back an hour later and ended up waiting ANOTHER hour after that to finally get my car. This time the employees I interacted with were much much nicer and apologetic, if this was my first experience I would have just assumed a bad estimate and busy day but it's every time we go in we have the same issues. Plus I've never been in the without hearing angry customers, today I heard 2 different customers (within the 1 hour I sat in the store waiting room) get angry, one because their car had been in the shop way over the estimated time, the other because a lady had dropped her car off over 2 hours beforehand, came back at the time they said it would be finished and it hasn't even been in the shop yet. Overall, the point is that you can never trust their estimated times. Make sure you have plenty of extra time, possibly a whole part of a day, to get your car worked on (even if it's just an oil change). I gave them 2 stars only because I understand things get busy and work piles up, plus they were so apologetic this time (although not in the past). They absolutely need to start offering discounts for people who have to wait hours after their estimated time or figure out their own system. Obviously something is very wrong in the way they operate if they can never finish a vehicle in the time they estimate.
these guys are great! and now they even make car keys at Sears, best prices I find anywhere. Thanks guys!
I don't like being lied to. Took my car to Midas.
