There was a Rosati's down the road from me when I lived in Kansas City. I LOVED their deep dish pizza. When they opened this pizzeria in Fort Wayne, I was so excited. I've only been there once and it was later than lunch hour, so the wait wasn't too bad. The reason for 3 stars is the pizza was way to salty. I ordered the deep dish with various non-meat items, and I think whatever brand they use for their olives and giardiniera peppers is super salty. I'll try them again to see if their other pizzas are salty. Hopefully not.
I ordered online for delivery and received a confirmation email in addition to my card being charged. I waited 2 hours for our pizza (I was trying to be understanding that deep dish can take a large amount of time) and decided to call to receive a voice recording that they are closed due to a power outage. Why there would be a power outage at Jefferson Pointe is beyond me. Sunny blue skies here. Needless to say I've waited 2 hours, have had my card charged, and can't talk to anyone to get the charge removed. Hoping to resolve it tomorrow however they should use a system that does not send a confirmation of order if the order was never received let alone charge someone's card!
We got the deep dish pizza with sausage and pepperoni. We were warned it would take 45 minutes and we've had deep dish before so we knew that. We got the mozzarella sticks which were what we expected. We had good service while we were waiting and the pizza came it was just the way I like deep dish. Cheesy and full of flavor. I would even recommend getting extra cheese, but I'm a cheese fiend. The price was fine since we took half the pizza home. Overall a great experience and I expect we will be back!
Having grown up in Chicago and lived there for 28 years, I've come to love my Chicago pizza and I'm quite particular about it. I happened to be in Fort Wayne visiting and was craving some Chicago pizza, so when I found a hometown favorite in Rosati's, I was happy as a clam and easily sold in making a visit. I can guarantee if you're longing for Chicago pizza in a pinch, you can definitely get your fix here. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll find a true Rosati's experience here as there were enough differences between Chicago Rosati's and this one. We got a 16 inch thin crust. The sausage was precooked (almost overcooked) and crumbled, not the raw pinched variety when made before cooking, giving those nice big chunks of sausage I love on Chicago pizza. Also, the crust did not appear to be fresh made. Usually you'll get some puffiness in the crust even though it still holds a cracker crunch. This crust was was cracker crunchy, but perfectly cut around the edges and had no rise to it... seemed manufactured and from the freezer. The service was ok, but nothing great being that there were only a handful of tables full. I'd visit again if I'm in Fort Wayne, but only if my search for something better doesn't pop up.
The best pizza around! We went in near closing time after a movie and the staff was great. Forget what you have heard about this place in the past. It's under new management. Give it another try.
