I too have had strange experiences with this store. I take good care of my things and when they did buy something I was offered a dollar. It was new with tags. Have had a few things turned down. I am done with them, I would rather donate to Treasure House or Dove's Nest and feel good about helping others.
Grand total: $3.80, wasted time, and an aching back from carrying all of the items in and then back out (with no offer of assistance either time, and curt refusal when I asked to borrow a cart to bring items in).
What does, one wonders?
Side note: Contrary to what their website said as of today hours prior to my visit, they DO NOT accept maternity clothes of any kind, even new and designer...because they "just didn't sell as well."
I've only had luck once with Clothes Mentor. I take in nice, clean items and they rarely accept more than a couple things. They have things in their store that look worn and used, but they won't take nice clean items? They are supposed to give 30% of what they sell for, but when I'm only offered $11 for a pair of new designer shoes and 3 like new designer bags, then something is terribly wrong; especially considering the outrageous prices they have on their handbags. I've made my last trip to Clothes Mentor. I'd rather give my items to Treasure House than accept their insulting offers.
Yes, as an educator and a working mother, it rubbed my better instincts the wrong way even before today's encounter.
Final summary in 4 letters: BWOT :-(
I have never experienced someone so rude than I did here. I had my children with me and this girl apparently did not like that. My kids are very well behaved kids. My daughter sat in a chair and played on my phone and my son walked with me. The girls ignored me when I asked her several questions at different times and followed me around the store giving me the stink eye (literally). I will never be back.
After seeing what they DID accept from me when given the options, I am not inclined to shop their other stock or visit again.
I wish I could give a zero star. Management was rude, staff seemed more interested in talking to each other and the sweater I tried on smelled like cigarette smoke. Stay away...better off using FB garage sale sites!
Very poor customer service, and my first (and now, only) experience trying to sell items at this store. I was treated rudely and, as others have said, employees seemed more interested in talking to each other than assisting customers. Many of the items I brought in were in very nice condition, some never worn and several professional wear pieces- they only accepted two items, an old, very worn dress shirt (like 5+ years old and well-worn) and an inexpensive necklace/bracelet set. What the what??? Over several new items and a beautiful navy business suit?!
I was already hesitant to try this place, after reading the open editorial a few years ago, wherein a mother and her poor toddler daughter were embarrassed and treatly rudely when they asked to use a restroom; in addition to this, the fact that they now feel it necessary to publicly post a sign stating, "no restroom available" on the front door (tacky, much?)
