I've been in this hospital on numerous occasions. The hospital was as soothing as a hospital can be, spotless, relatively easy to find your way around, and everyone was pleasant and helpful. The registration was easy, even though I had pre-registered and given the same information many times before I arrived that day. Every nurse I was in contact with during my outpatient surgery was kind, efficient, well-informed, treated me with respect and compassion, and had smiles on their faces the entire time. The nurse who did my IV was excellent and it only took one try. I'm an I.V. nightmare unfortunately so this was huge for me. I was almost giddy.
As much as the hospital can step it up and take care of their patients, the Lutheran Hospitals pharmacy drags them through the mud. People are having surgeries and going HOURS without pain medication because the hospitals pharmacy does not do their job efficiently. I have been a patient here for over a week and keep having to go without any pain medication at all after having two surgeries on my feet. Unless you just want to hand the keys to the building over to Parkview I strongly suggest reorganizing your PHARMACY!!!
My surgeon, Dr. Rachael Hayes, is one of the best doctors I've had in my life. Not only is she an excellent surgeon, she is a good person. She's patient, you never feel rushed by her, she's more than willing to answer any questions, she's witty, and from the first time I met her I felt comfortable and trusted her completely. I asked her not to sugar coat answers to my questions, and she doesn't, but she is kind, honest, and compassionate with her explanations and has never made me feel my questions were lame. That rarely happens. I saw her before surgery and when you're dealing with cancer that's very important. I've had a couple of surgeries where seeing the doctor before the surgery didn't occur. The Anesthesiologist, I'm sorry I can't remember his name, was excellent. He asked important questions, and answered any concerns I had because I have anesthesia awareness, as well as an ICD and I'm happy to say that he kept me asleep through the entire surgery. Again, for me, that's rare. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted him completely. Trust doesn't come easy for me as I've been at the wrong end of medical mishaps on many occasions. I'm the Murphy's Law of medical procedures gone awry, so my excellent surgical experience meant so much to me. The Nurses, Dr. Hayes, and the Anesthesiologist made that possible. I'm the type of person that smiles, a good sense of humor, willingness to explain the procedures while being treated with respect and as a person instead of livestock, especially with a few fears of anything medical, and being the best in their fields is of great importance to me. Especially the smiles and sense of humor. I'm weird that way. I would recommend this hospital and the people who made my experience as painless as possible, both physical and emotionally, to anyone.
I had surgery at this hospital Nov. 22, 2017 and have only one complaint. The day before surgery I had calls from about 3 different departments requesting my medical history, allergies, and general info. I don't understand why it had to be repeated at the same hospital so many times. You would think that info would be shared through their computers since it's the same facility. It's the last thing you want to do the day before surgery.
